Bramble

Summer hedgerow over crushed ice.

A gin sour drizzled with blackberry liqueur that bleeds down through crushed ice — a modern British classic that looks as good as it drinks.

Ingredients

  • Gin50 ml
  • Fresh Lemon Juice25 ml
  • Sugar Syrup12.5 ml
  • Crème de Mûre15 ml

Garnish

Garnish optionally with a lemon slice and blackberries.

Method

  1. 1Pour all ingredients except the Crème de Mûre into a shaker, shake well with ice.
  2. 2Strain into a chilled old fashioned glass filled with crushed ice.
  3. 3Pour the blackberry liqueur over the top in a circular motion.
The lesson

The purple 'bleed' is technique, not luck: pour the liqueur last, slowly, over the ice. Presentation is built into the method.
